Some people tell you not to scout, which is okay for saving Stamina, but if it's your first time at a place, I would recommend doing it if you have the spare points. I only travel this far so that I can return to my base with Stamina to spare, usually about 1 extra stamina point in reserve just incase I get ambushed but feel free to be even more safe.
